Bahrain is touting its notorious intelligence apparatus to Yingluck.

A few weeks ago, I was telling my sister, that in following, analyzing, and reporting Thai news, I felt that I have become very much negative, in my reaction to what have been going on Thailand. And I told her, I will try to be more positive.

Since then, I have been struggling, with myself, to try to find a formula, of mixing critical thinking with creative thinking, and still, be myself and say what I truly feel like saying.

Well, perhaps, this will be one test, if I have succeeded or not.

Local news just reported, in Yingluck‘s first trip to the Middle East, on her first stop, in Bahrain, a country with a Royalism system, hit with oppression and protest, very much like Thailand few years ago, but more direct and stark-several agreements were signed on trade and investments, and Bahrain proposed to Yingluck also, for Bahrain’s intelligence apparatus, work with Thailand’s intelligence, in sharing intelligence.

In the political crisis in Bahrain, the country’s Security Special Forces went after the Shiite. The Shiites, make up about two-thirds of the Bahraini citizens, and are the main target. As for the involvement of Bahrain National Security Agency (NSA) it is well-known to have been formed on sectarian basis, with very few Shiite working for it, and most who do work as informants and in the low-level jobs.

Wikipedia says, that the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry, established by King Hamad to investigate events in the 2011 Bahraini Uprising, concluded that “the NSA … followed a systematic practice of physical and psychological mistreatment, which in many cases amounted to torture, with respect to a large number of detainees in their custody.” This conclusion was reached on the basis of investigations and forensic medical examinations conducted by the Commission.

The fact is, about 60% to 70% of NSA workforce, is made up of Asians. So clearly, the Bahrain Royalty, hired Asians, to suppress the Shiite.

There are two factors to consider here, Thai Deep South and global-linked terrorism hitting Thailand.

On the Deep South, here in Thailand, there is the Deep South crisis, where some locals, want to separate the area out to form and independent country, using terror tactics that is being met by Thai authorities with suppression. Caught in between are the people of the region, mostly Muslim. The global Muslim governing body, just visited the deep south and said Thailand is moving in the right direction. Yet, the Thais of the region, complain about injustices, carried out by the Thai security apparatus, long known to use a Hawkish approach.

Then on terrorism, while the news have died down, and Thailand is trying to keep a balance between Israel and Iran, increasingly, the facts is getting clear, that in a recent Bangkok terrorist incident, it was carried out, by Iran linked terror group, in a coordinated global attack on Israel.

Yingluck have both the opportunity and risk here, if she accepts the Bahrain offer to share intelligence with Thailand, yet how will the fact that Asians dominate the Bahrain intelligence apparatus can impact the metrix, perhaps, there are some knock on benefits and risk here as well.

And off course, the USA is big in Bahrain.
