“A man may die, nations may rise and fall, but an idea lives on”
John F. Kennedy

Personally, I am about walking alone in a darkened world
Political and Economic Philosophy
I am a classical liberal
Position on Intelligence:
Good intelligence supports democracy, human rights and business. Bad intelligence supports totalitarianism and hurt business.
Position on Thai King and the Thai Crown Prince?
Well the Thai King have dedicated a great part of his life helping the poor and as a classical liberal, I love justice and the poor are treated un-justly. So how can I not love someone, especially like the Thai King, who helps the poor.
Well the Crown Prince is really the future of Thailand, in that he lives a very open and liberated private life and yet he is dedicated to things I love like national sovereignty and also charity. So he is like an ultra-modern guy who still is tied to tradition. That is hard to do and I respect him for trying his best to do that.
Position on Taksin and Jai?
Taksin brings opportunity and hope to the poor and disfranchised. Jai is very anti totalitarianism and very pro-democracy.

What Am I about?
Many say I am a “Democratic Activist”
Into Tao, Zen and individualism……… Definitely a classical liberal who hates big government and loves fair play……….. Mentioned in Taksin’s book as the guy who first warned him of the coup………….. Trashed often by Matichon and Manager as being Taksin’s lackey……………………… Hounded and prosecuted by right wing powers at be…………………………… Former Bangkok Post, Manager and Nation writer/journalist………………….. Former senior staff of Securities One Research Institute, Stock Exchange of Thailand and Ogilvy and Matter……………………. Reuters Foundation trained writer……………………. US MBA. Thai-American mixed race…………………… Son of a famous Thai billionaire eye doctor…………………………. Married twice with two kids…………………….. Very crazy at times, but mostly just another happy guy in an un-happy world.

In July 2006, 3rd Army Area Commander Saprang Kalayanamitr gave an interview where he stated that Thai politics was below standard and that the Kingdom’s leadership was weak. He also claimed that Thailand had a false democracy.[7] The public was becoming alarmed with each fresh rumor. On 15 July 2006 a democratic activist, Tavivoot Chulavachana, posted an open letter in Thailand’s most popular political webboard, citing military sources, saying the military and Sondhi Limthongkul were conspiring to stage a takeover to rid the country of Thaksin, and then return power to the people—after a period of cleansing the country.[8]

Excerpt on Terry/Tavivoot from Economist

The Economist Intelligent Unit Quotes Terry:
Excerpts on Terry’s Comment:
Managing up is an undeniably important part of the IT modernisation process. But because these projects can affect virtually every part of a company, experts warn IT leaders not to forget the end users.
“The best thing I can recommend is to remember that an IT upgrade like this has a direct impact on organisational culture and values,” says Terry Chulavachana, an IT adviser in Thailand.
“You must involve employees at all levels of the company, especially the end users. That helps the project stay focused on the ‘customers’ of the technology.”
Part of the problem is that IT and non-IT employees disagree about the level of interaction that is needed between the two groups.
For example, when asked to identify the most challenging aspect of aligning IT modernisation with business goals, 40% of IT function respondents say limited interaction between IT and high-level, strategic decision-makers. Only 29% of non-IT function respondents agree.

A Global Survey by the Economist Intelligence Unit
IT modernisation: An exercise in alignment
IT modernisation, defined as major changes in a company’s technology infrastructure, applications and overall operations to replace legacy systems, can be a complex process.
To be effective, it requires close alignment with strategic business goals, clearly defined objectives and the continual involvement of the C-suite as well as those who will use the IT applications in their everyday work. Unfortunately, these elements are often lacking when companies undertake such projects, putting their initiatives at risk.
This is the main finding of a new research report from the Economist Intelligence Unit, IT Modernisation: An exercise in alignment, sponsored by Oracle and HP.
The report, based on a global survey of 170 senior executives and interviews with top executives worldwide, concludes that while firms recognise the importance of modernising IT systems, they do not always implement such projects effectively.
The research identified clear differences between companies whose IT departments are considered “world class” or “high quality” and those with “undervalued” IT units, with respect both to drivers of IT modernisation projects and benefits of such projects. It also investigates the impacts of the current economic upheaval on organisations’ modernisation efforts.
