Back during the USA Vietnam War, the guerilla war conducted by the North Vietnamese army, gave the Americans, a great deal of problems-and one result was the “Agent Orange Doctrine” that saw massive amount of Agent Orange, spray onto the jungle of Lao and Vietnam, in an attempt to destroy wide track of jungle, clearing out the jungle and thus cut hiding and operational places of the North Vietnamese military.

The Thai Army, just twittered, that it has ordered all military units along Thailand‘s borders, to inspect the all border area in Thailand, and spread plant seeds, in an attempt to re-forestation, of Thailand’s much depleted forest resources.

Thailand, during the Vietnam War, was an ally of the USA, and while it did not have access to Agent Orange, with the rise of the Thai Communist Party, which operated in remote jungles, had a deliberate policy to encouraged loggers, to cut down trees, particularly at “High Security Risk Terrain.”

Today, arguably, Thailand has few “High Security Risk Terrain” but never the less, along the border of Thailand, there continues to be an environment of lawlessness-with drug traffickers, human trafficking, black market traders of goods, refugees and independent armies, and also in Thailand’s Deep South, there are the terrorist activity who often use the jungle as a base of operation.

The latest news, again, is that the Thai Army, have issued an order, to for military forces, to inspect, the border area, for opportunities to plant trees-in a massive effort at re-forestation.

There are two pressure points on the Thai military here, to see this done-first the government of Yingluck, have said it is a policy of her government for reforestation, as a medium term flood prevention measure.

Then even long before Yingluck’s government, the Thai Royalty, have often urged the Thai government, to help in the re-forestation of Thailand.
