This July, Thailand will be getting a new ambassador from the United Kingdom, that according to latest news, it will be Mark Kent.

Mark Kent, is a well know diplomat, on the global scale, for his love of debate, critical thinking and constructive criticism.

Mark Kent, is also known as a diplomat who seldom shy away from issues-often, very much seen as a “Rebel” by the establishment in the countries that he is stationed.

But, perhaps, Mark Kent, will be facing one of the greatest challenges of his life-right here in Thailand-that may reach into his soul, of what he believes in and love.

The United Kingdom, is off course a country with a very long tradition in Royalism, headed by a Queen, that even the Lady Diana affair, still sees the Queen very popular with the British people.

The Lady Diana affair, many British thought, was the lowest point in Queen Elizabeth’s career as Queen of England, but with the help of Tony Blair, who debated with Queen Elizabeth, on the wisdom of chang, managed to see Queen Elizabeth re-gained a great deal of lost respect, from the British people.

Thailand, off course, also has a tradition in Royalism, but unlike in the UK, all the “Tony Blair” type in Thailand, are said to be trying to topple the Thai Monarchy, by the Thai Royalist.

Mark Kent, again the next UK ambassador to Thailand, is walking into a Thailand that is seeing the roots of a modern Thai monarchy system taking shape, particularly, by the growing movement of the Nitirat Group of lawyers/academic, who are trying to change the strict lese majeste laws-where insulting the Monarchy, can mean a 20 years jail term.

That lese majeste law, have striff debate and critical thinking of the Thai Monarchy-with some arguing, have meant a Thai Royalty system, that have frozen in time, resulting in a perpetual cycle of Thai political crisis.

Mark Kent, is no “Sex Pistols,” a punk rock band that greatly ridiculed the UK Queen, but Mark Kent, have left a long trail in the diplomatic community.

Mark Kent, is greatly known in Asia pacific, also, as a diplomat who loves open debate, loves critical thinking, and loves constructive criticism. And again, Mark Kent, is also known to express his views, against the establishment of the country he is posted in.

And like Kristy Kenny, the USA ambassador to Thailand, Mark Kent, is greatly involved in using the internet, particularly the social network, to conduct diplomatic activity.

Mark, is known to break rules, of the country he is station in, in utilizing the internet-and it is yet to be seen how comfortable Mark will be, with Thailand ranking among China, on internet censorship.

It is yet to be seen, also,  if Mark Kent, will hide away, from debate and critical thinking on the subject of Thai Royalism, when he finally is stationed in Thailand-which hiding away, is something Kristy Kenny, the USA Ambassador to Thailand, have very much done.

The UK and the USA, off course, apart from sharing a history, are also very close ally, on many fronts. Here currently in Thailand, the current UK ambassador and the USA ambassador-often Twitter to one another, right there in the open for people to see.

The latest here, is the UK ambassador, sugggesting to Kristy Kenny, that Kristy, try and eat some bugs and insects-something, a great many Thais love to eat. The UK ambassador said jokingly, eating the bugs may help Kristy get to know Thailand.

Will Mark learn something from Kristy and will Kristy learn something from Mark-Thai Intel is curious.

By the way, the previous UK ambassador to Thailand, is greatly criticized by the likes of Thailand Political Prisoners, for being nothing but a humble servant of the Thai Royalist. Meanwhile, Amnesty International, the UK head quartered human rights body, is also known, like the previous UK ambassador, as also, nothing but a humble servant, of the Thai Royalist.
