Diplomacy: Democratic Aung San meets Authoritarian Abhisit amid Thailand & Myanma military constitution quagmire

  • By Ranger, Thai Intel’s political journalist

Thailand‘s former prime minister, Abhisit, a pro-authoritarin politician, after leading his Democrat Party to paint Yingluck, Thailand’s prime minister as an “adulterous whore,” is heading to meet Aung San, a global class statewomen, called “The Lady” for talks.

But apart from the obvious hope of using Aung San to elevate himself as his political party have  just “Dirtied” Yngluck’s image-there is something much more important at stake than noticing Abhisit’s “Snake Like” diplomacy-and that is Thailand and Myanmar‘s struggle to get out of being ruled under military drawn constitutions.

At the height of the Thai political crisis, a few years ago, there was no mistake, Aung San, came out and said, Thailand is the proof that a military drawn constitution will never work.

And now, with Mayanmar’s progress towards a more open society, Aung San have said she will attempt to correct the many mistakes of Myanma’s military constitution.

Here in Thailand, Yingluck is also pushing to amend Thailand’s military drawn constitution, called to have judicialized Thailand under the Thai establishment rule.

As Yingluck is pushing for change, Abhisit of the Democrat Party have said they are against changing the military drawn Thai constitution. In Mayanmar, as the same in Thailand, the military is against changes.

Both Aung San and Yingluck, are facing a similar risk on the constitutional change-in a push, to see their respected countries, become more democratic.

Bangkok Post, a newspaper here in Thailand, recently reported that Yingluck’s move on the constitution could cause a new political crisis in Thailand. Meanwhile, Aung San have said little about her plans for Myanmar’s constitution-however, clearly, Aung San is also facing similar risks.

Both Aung San and Yingluck share a great deal of common interest, particularly in Democracy-and Thai Intel just hope, that Abhisit, will not be able to use Aung San, to help him destroy Yingluck.
