Thai Politics: Core Red Shirts leader being trailed & says CIA warning is “Factual”

CIA Chief, David, in Bangkok, a few days ago

Thai Intel knows what it feels like when quoting the CIA-as last time Thai Intel quoted the CIA, Thai Intel got a few e-mails asking for proof.

Believe it or Not?

And Thai Intel answered, that all Thai Intel can say, is that Thai Intel have been in contact with the CIA-believe it or not.

  • The fact is, to most people, when one thinks of the CIA, one thinks of some totally-controlled monolithic hidden organization in some shadow. That makes it hard to believe, when people say they have been in contact with the CIA.

How Secret is Secret:

But in fact, the CIA does conduct many hidden operations that is known to the public-and often, as a current case in the Global news shows, many times, the CIA agants would give classified information, to journalist, for example-totally, un sanctioned by Langley.

Perhaps, that is the case with Chartuporn, in Thailand.

USA Embassy Toe the Line?

Chartuporn is a core leader of the Thai Red Shirts, a movement of mostly democracy leaning grassroots Thais.

  • Chartuporn, just said that his earlier claims that the CIA have warned him of an impending coup by the Thai military, in fact involves a Thai friend of his, who works for the CIA.
  • Khao Sod, a local newspaper here in Thailand, in responding to that claimed contacted the USA Embassy, where an intelligence officer at the Embassy told Khao Sod, that quote, “Chatuporn claims are un-substantiated.”

However, Thai Intel readers should also be mindful that The CIA relations with the Red Shirts have been highly confrontational during the Red Shirts protest-with the USA giving support to the Abhisit regime. Thus, it could be a policy of Langley, to build relations with the Red Shirts, on purpose-as the Pheu Thai Party have come to power in Thailand.

Cloak and Dagger?

  • Chatuporn also said that he is being trailed, by some unknown men.

Chatuporn says, as a leader of the the forces of democracy in Thailand, who will take action against any coups, his current being trailed, could be related to the coup-where in the last coup, many Thais who would opposed the coup, were immediately picked up by the coup staging Thai military-having been trailed before the coup.

  • While Chatuporn being traild relating a future coup seems far fetch at this point, Thai Intel just wants to remind Thai Intel readers, that the Thai army chief, Prayuth, last year, when Chatuporn warned against coup, exploded in public, threathening Chatuporn with physical bodily harm.

Perhaps, this trail on Chatuporn relates to a new occasion of anger by the Thai military chief-who wants to make Charuporn feel intimidated.

The “Gamer of Intelligence” in Thailand?

Thai Intel readers, when reading this report, should also take into account the cultural factors in Thailand. What Thai Intel means, is that this is Thailand, where there is a rigid top down heirachy structure, that shilds people at the top from accountability.

Within that situation, thus something such as the Thai army chief threat of physical harm on a Thai citizen, can go on and is accepted as normal by the Thais. Thus, before discounting Chatuporn’s claim that he is being trailed, please look at the claim in the context of Thailand-and what can go on here right in the open-and nobody cares.

While in western context, for a leader of a democrartic movement to be trailed is obviously big news, Chatuporn, in this disclosure, most likely did not expect it to make it into the news. In fact, the news was hardly news in Thailand-meaning there is little rationale for Chartuporn to lie.
