A group of human rights lawyers in Thailand, Nitirat, just told the Thai press that members of the group have received death threats, in the form of a letter, signed by the First Regiment of the Royal Guard.
The group of human rights lawyer, is trying to bring about reform to the lese majeste laws, where offenders, under current law, can be sent to jail for 20 years for insulting the Thai royalty.
- Explosive Issue:
The issue is highly explosive in Thailand, pitching Thais against Thais, and the danger is, the conflict could drag the Thai military into the situation-where, already, the Thai army chief, Prayuth, have elevated soldiers, involved in the crackdown on the Red Shirts protesters, to most important force commanding positions in the Thai military.
In conditioning the massive numbers of soldiers required in the crackdown operations, the Thai military told the soldiers, that the Red Shirts protesters are trying to topple the Thai King.
Prayuth himself, exploded in an emotional outburst a few days ago, against this same group of human rights lawyer, that just received the death threats.
- Regiment for Staging Coups:
In Thailand, the first regiment of the Royal Guard, stationed near Bangkok, have always been the Thai military’s establishment “Leading Coup Making” tool. The regiment, have also been used in numerous crack-down on protesters in Thailand.
The death threat lettter against the group of human rights lawyer, could be an indication, that the some limit, may have been breached.
The extent of this regiment loyalty to the Thai Royalty, can not be understated-but even saying this regiment is a super-ultra-Royalist, is an under statement.
Soldiers in this regiment, are ready, to sacrifice their lives, protecting the Thai Royalty. According to published information, soldiers in this regiment under-goes massive indoctrination.
- Thailand Rocked with Coup Threats:
Unfortunately, for Thailand, every coup in Thailand, have been done with the stated rationale, of “Protecting the Thai Royalty.”
- Far Extreme Right Agenda:
While there have indeed been threats to Thai Royalism in the past, such as during the communist up-rising, however, in recent times, the rationale to protect Thai Royalty from threats, have been nothing much more than an excuse, to keep Thailand on the far extreme right wing path-with an approved puppet as the government.
Thailand’s current government of Yingluck, increasingly is seen, along this line as well, having taken up positions, that is identical to the far extreme right.
- Guarantor of Far Extreme Right:
Indeed, Thai Royalism have become one and the same, tied tgether inseperably, with a far extreme right-just a derivative of a dictatorship.
According to statistic, Thailand ranks 4th globally, for the number of coups staged, and there have been countless blood bath on the streets of Bangkok-with most of the time, it is related also to the rationale, “Protecting Thai Royalty.”
- Search and Destroy:
To the far extreme right, meaning the Thai establishment, as part of that protecting the Thai Royalty, have been concerned of a faltering Thai Royalty’s reputations-and the natural reaction, of a far extreme right wing mind, is “search and destroy.”
While, here in Thailand, with the far extreme right, Thai Royalty are like “Gods,” but globally, the situation is deteriorating.
Many, even Thais with un-questionable loyalty to the Thai Royalty, have called for changes to the Thai lese majeste laws, as a last-ditch effort, to save the reputation of Thai royalty on the global level. However, accepting channges is difficult, as it would result in the lost of a major rationale, to keep Thailand focused, on the far extreme right wing agenda.

I just hope the Nitirat group file a complaint with the police about death threats made against them. Although the complaint will not be treated properly by the police, it must be made for the credibilty of the group.
