- The Very Best for Rich Royals:
Here in Thailand, the Thai Royals are very rich.
And while they preach “Sufficiency” to the Thais and promotes the “Bhutan Model” of development, based on the “Happy Index” the Thai Royals have “Massive Fleets” of very expensive cars. The Thai Royalty has this image to keep, and here in Thailand, just a few words of insult to the Thai Royalty, that hurts the image, can land a person in jail for 15 to 20 years.
So one thing Thais and foreigners in Thailand have learned, is “Do not insult Thai Royalty.” Lese majeste, or the insulting of Royalty, is dead serious in Thailand. Like the EU, USA and UN and just about every global level freedom and human rights body have criticized Thailand for this, but basically, Thailand have told the globe to “Kiss My Ass.”
This lese majeste is taken to such an extent in Thailand, the USA State Department, has a travel warning that in Thailand, something like, quote: “If you drop the Thai currency bill do not step on it (to prevent it from getting blown away) because the Thai currency has the picture of the Thai King on it and so stepping on the currency is lese majeste and you can be arrested.”
- Caravan of Money on Parade:
Well back to fleets of expensive cars.
And these fleet of very expensive cars, normally travel in Thailand in a caravan. Normally, at the head of the caravan are these Harley Davidson police motorcycles. Then that is followed by police cars. Then after the Harley and police cars, it is followed by a caravans of very expensive cars. In the first few cars, sits high-ranking palace officials. Then in the middle of the caravan, often in very distinct and different cars, sits the Thai Royalty. After that car with the Thai Royalty, comes more very expensive cars, that sits more palace inside people. Then after that section of palace inside officials, comes a few vans with security people and medical people for emergency. Then after the vans, comes more police cars. And the whole thing is closed with more Harley Davidson police motorcycles.
- Road Closes for Thai Royalty Passage:
And when these motorcades with Thai royalty in them travel in Thailand, all the roads the motorcade passes through, will be blocked of traffic. Way ahead of the motorcade, is the traffic police cars that with their arrival, the roads would be closed off, for the Royalty motorcade to pass. And way after the royal motorcade, is also a traffic police car, to tell the traffic police in the area, that it is then OK to let normal traffic proceeds.
- Grandiose to See:
The whole thing is very grand to watch, and normally, Thais on the side of the street would stop whatever they are doing, and rush to the side of the road, and look at the whole thin-often in total awe of the motorcade.
But all the above is not all.
- Fleet Upon Fleet of Expensive Cars:
As Thai Intel said, the Thai Royalty has “Massive Numbers of Expensive Cars.” And what type of expensive cars, a Thai Royalty motorcade use, depends on the status of the Thai Royalty and also of the importance of the “Event” they are heading to.
So it is like, a fleet of BMW is used by this and that Royalty for this and that event. Then it is a fleet of Mercedes, that is used by this and that Royalty for this and that event. And so on it goes.
- Rolls Royce at the Tip of the Empire:
But at the tip of the iceberg are the Rolls Royce, that is used by very high-ranking Thai Royalty for very important “Events.”
No one really knows how many Rolls Royce the Thai Royal Family has, but over the years, just about every type of Rolls Royce has been seen by the public-from classic Rolls Royce to brand new Rolls Royce.
- Super-Rich Common People Denied the Pleasure of Rolls Royce:
Safe to say, that in Thailand, while there are large numbers of super-rich Thais, who can buy any type of cars, most Thais do not venture into buying Rolls Royce, because here in Thailand, Rolls Royce, is considered exclusive to Thai Royalty.
A few years back, a Thai auto magazine went to ask a very rich Thai, who bought a Rolls Royce that is similar to the one Thai Royalty uses in very important function, how does it feel to drive a Rolls Royce in Thailand? And the answer was that, quote: “I often get odd stares and then people close to me tells me that my action is being shunned.”
“I decided to park it in the garage most of the time and it worries me how it would look if I went to the same event as the Thai Royalty in the same type of car,” he said, in Auto Week, about 2 years ago, when independent car importers in Thailand began importing Rolls Royce into Thailand.
- Rolls Royce Targets Rich Commoners:
Well, Rolls Royce, the company itself, just said it was going to target Thailand.
And the question is, knowing how crazy the Thai royalist can get with people who “Insults” the Thai Royals, Thai Intel just wants to ask, quote: “Would some crazy Thai Royalist file lese majeste charges on some Thai who drives a Rolls Royce, particularly, if looks the same and have the same color-to the same event as the Thai Royalty?”
- A Stupid Thai Intel Report?
If you think Thai Intel is playing stupid in this report, consider this.
Thaksin, Thailand former prime minister who was kicked out by the 2006 coup, went to the Temple of the Emerald Buddha to conduct religious services. And believe it or not, the Thai Royalist accused Thaksin of lese majeste for that religious service, because the Thai Royalty goes to that temple every year to conduct religious service. The charge on Thaksin? Well the Royalist said Thaksin was trying to match himself with Thai Royalty.
Can you imagine, what the Royalist would do to Yingluck, a very rich Thai prime minister, if she buys a Rolls Royce?

Ultra-luxury carmaker Rolls-Royce eyes Thailand, Vietnam
Published on Jan 11, 2012
HONG KONG (AFP) – Ultra-luxury carmaker Rolls-Royce is looking to expand into Thailand and Vietnam, a top executive said on Wednesday, after it posted record sales in 2011 with Asia its fastest-growing market.
The German-owned British automaker announced on Monday sales jumped 31 per cent to 3,538 vehicles last year, up from the 2,711 units in 2010, and was the highest-ever annual total in the company’s 107-year history.
The surging sales were driven by demand from China and the United States (US), it said, with 47 per cent year-over-year growth in Asia-Pacific, 17 per cent in North America and 23 per cent in the Middle East.
‘Asia Pacific is the fastest-growing region. We have seen growth literally in all markets – Korea, Japan,’ Torsten Mller-tvs, chief executive officer at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, told AFP on a visit to Hong Kong.
‘We are now entering Thailand. We are looking also at Vietnam, Indo-China in a broader sense to see what kind of opportunities that we have here,’ he said, but declined to elaborate citing ongoing discussions.
The company may add ‘three, four’ dealerships this year in China, which overtook the US to become Rolls-Royce’s biggest market in 2011.
The firm’s chief executive said he was upbeat on China sales despite concerns about a slowdown in the world’s second-largest economy, adding that debt-riddled Europe presented a ‘very mixed picture’.
‘I can tell you I am optimistic, we definitely will see another record year for Rolls-Royce to come in 2012,’ he added.
The company, purchased by BMW in 1998, currently has 14 dealer networks in China, and another dozen in Asia-Pacific including Seoul, Tokyo, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Sydney, Melbourne and New Delhi.
The group unveiled plans in September to expand its Goodwood factory in southern England to meet strong global demand for the group’s personalised range of ‘Ghost’ and ‘Phantom’ models.
