Human Rights: Cancer stricken elderly man gets 20 years jail for insult!

  • By Tammy, Thai Intel humanity journalist

What has Thailand come to, putting away a cancer stricken elderly, a grand-father, for mobile phone text of wording critical to Thai royalty, to another mobile phone-and got 20 years jail sentence.

Like what is the damage here to Thai royalism? And the cost aginst Thai royalism, is that the news went global with every wire service.

MCOT reports the following:

BANGKOK, Nov 23 – Thailand’s Criminal Court on Wednesday sentenced a 61-year-old man to 20 years in jail for sending text messages deemed insulting the country’s revered monarch to a private secretary of former Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva.

The sentence was read via tele-conference as the defendant, Ampon Tangnoppakul, 61, did not appear to hear the court verdict due to inconvenience as the Bangkok Remand Prison where he is jailed is now flooded.

Mr Ampon was found guilty of four charges concerning insulting the monarchy and violating the 2007 Computer Act affecting national security.

The defendant was accused of using his mobile phone to send text messages with wording which was deemed to insult the monarchy to Somkiat Krongwattanasuk, a private secretary to former prime minister Abhisit, between May 9-22, 2010 from several locations.

I know it is a serious matter, but after an initial bout of depression and disappointment in Thailand, I realized, there is nothing that can be done.

Thailand is on some “Acid Trip” and the best other people, with sanity left, can do-is just sit back, and watch the acid trip, with a sense of humor. There is no reason, in the world, a human being, should let Thai royalism drag them down to the pits of hell. Be against it, take action against it, criticize it-but Thai royalism is not worth getting little sleep over.

What is an Acid Trip Like? Yahoo answers:

Depends on the trip.
Ask a user before taking any and find out what good trips are available. Avoid the speedy ones, they’re not worth the effort. All teeth grinding and no fun.
Take a trip with friends you trust, they’ll look after you if you bum out.
Trips last for hours so if your not having fun, you won’t be having fun for hours.
A trip will kill your appetite so eat before you go. It will also slow down the absorbtion rate, giving you a smoother transition.
It will lessen the effects of alchohol and you’ll wind up smashed when the trip finishes if you drink while tripping. I’d avoid that too when your new to them.
A joint will help kick a trip off but isn’t needed.

Tripping will put a spin on what your seeing. Mild effects and clouds will look like they’re sitting on a glass plate, the world may look like it’s in cartoon and textures, colours and patterns will seem very interesting.

Heavier effects and people may stop looking like people (they turn into lizards etc) this can be a little disconcerting if you take it seriously. Colours might drip down the walls, so may flames.

The important thing is not to take anything seriously. Find a nice safe place to play while your tripping and play.

Paranoia and obsessing on things that you normally don’t think about can happen. This is where mates come in.

Getting to sleep tripping is very hard, you’ll have to wait till it wears off and even then you might not be able to for quite a few hours. Make sure you have the time to trip and to sleep it off.

Trips will make your hair seem dry and brittle afterwards.

Don’t take more when your tripping (it sometimes seems like a good idea)
I had a mate that took a bunch of trips once and decided that letting a spider bite him a bunch of times was a good idea. It nearly killed him and he doesn’t finish sentences any more. Just starts them and then fades off into …………

Drugs are risky mkay?
