Political News: Thailand’s Yellow Shirts leader, Sondhi, compares himself to Apple’s Steve Jobs

  • By Pooky, Thai Intel’s economics journalist

Yesterday, in front of a crowd of about 3,000 Thais, Thailand‘s Yellow Shirts leader, Sondhi, compared himself with Steve Jobs, the iconic Apple co-founder that changed global communications.

Local Thai press reports, of Sondhi, quote:

Sondhi, the Yellow Shirts leader, in a gathering at the head quarter of the Manager Media Group, said, “Steve Jobs have died after his iPhone changed the world of telecommunications. And Now, Steve Chinese, will bring Thailand back to us before I die.”

Sondhi then went off blasting away at Taksin and Abhisit, calling them “Hell’s Animal.”

As someone who worked for Sondhit before at Asia Times, when Asia Times was just formed, and had a few discussions with Sondhi back then, I do not want to be too harsh to Sondhi for being “Disillusion” in comparing himself to Steve Jobs-meaning Sondhi and Steve Jobs in the same sentence is already just a very crazy thing.

  • Steve Jobs Legacy:

But what is amazing about Steve Jobs, is that after co-founding Apple, and drove it to success, he left Apple because of an internal Apple struggle. Apple faltered. Not bitter, Jobs latter on re-joined Apple and took it to heights-in a very fast “Multiple-Salvos” like launch of products. And the key, to Steve Jobs, is knowing and delivering what the customer wants.

As for Sondhi, Thai Intel just wish to communicate to readers, that Sondhi is just a very bitter man-against Taksin and Abhisit. And Sondhi never delivered what the Thai people want-let alone his “Negative Name” across the globe as a “Far Extreme Right” bigot.

  • Sondhi is just a bitter man:

First Sondhi went to Taksin to help him clear up some banking problems, when Taksin was in power, but was rejected by Taksin who said his power did not reach into one of Thailand’s biggest bank. Then after that, Sondhi’s TV program, began to hit hard at Taksin-where the TV program eventually was cut from broadcast. After that, it was maximum hate.

Then with Abhisit, it was fundamentally the same thing with Taksin, in that Sondhi demanded this and that from Abhisit, but was rejected, and so Sondhi turned against Abhisit-and his media, went trashing Abhisit, the same way with Taksin. After that, it was maximum hate.

  • Sondhi failed to recognized who his customers are:

At the height of his protest activities, Sondhit commanded a crowd of about 50,000 Thais-that were highly daring and provocative. With that number of Thais in his hands and being highly aggressive, and with a media empire in his hand, that is a powerful tool that frightened many people in Thailand.

But subsequent events proved, that most of that 50,000 Thais, were in fact, supporters of the Democrat Party of Abhisit, who used the Yellow Shirts to destabilized the governments close to Taksin-so it could become the government. The fact is, Sondhi, never had more “Core” support than perhaps 5,000 to 10,000 Thais.

  • To be fair:

But to be fair to Sondhi, he does share some similar characteristic with Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs is known as a very much “Outside the Box” highly “Creative” and “Wild” person. If anything, that is very much the same with Sondhi. The differences, however, is that Steve Jobs is filled with positive energy, and Sondhi, is filled with the opposite.
