I stand with my red shirt Siamese cats
by Tammy, this blog’s humanity journalist
I admit, when I read one of the most popular blog for foreigners in Thailand, Absolute Bangkok, I was very saddened. You see, Absolute Bangkok, is a very classy website that targets the classy and wealthy foreigners in Thailand. And so for ages the website has supported the Abhisit government.
But we here at Thai Intelligent was in shocked, because we are very anti-Abhisit, and so to suddenly have loads of links from Absolute Bangkok, that was very odd. So I went and read what the latest article said, and Absolute Bangkok said that what Taksin said was the truth about Thailand.
Last night, Terry, this blog editor went to a party with some of his close Thai friends. And as some of you might know, most of Terry’s friend are avid Yellow Shirt worshipers. So Terry came back, and wanted to write a story, but he told me to do it instead.
But to sum it up, there was a major argument going. And it was clear to Terry that many of his Thai friends have been extremely pumped up and hyped up about Thai nationalism and Royalism. And finally Terry said to them, “We are different. I am a global citizen fighting for freedom, liberty and social-justice. While all of you are fighting in a small Thai nationalism pool for the class system.”
And that is pretty much what it is about now. Globally, a great many people have gone to read the Taksin Time interview. And like Absolute Bangkok, many of them have for the first time understand what is going on in Thailand and what the real problems are.
I don’t pity Terry’s Yellow Shirt friends for being ignorant. That is their own doing. All I can say is that this blog yesterdays’ story, “Democrats Commits Suicide over Taksin Time Interview” overnight, within a short few hours, have received the heaviest traffic any story this blog has ever got. And most of them were from global hits.
As Taksin said, Thailand is getting to be close to a fail state, and that it is now off the map of importance. So I just want to congratulate Abhisit, to be able to hold power, in a country that does not really mean anything to me at all, except as a place for me to express my humanity.
And as far as Terry is concerned, he is proud of his Thai American mixed race heritage. But this blog had taken a vote, and we now call Thai Intelligent, “An American Open Source Intelligent Blog.” And Terry now sees himself, as a global citizen.
