About 100 staunch politicians from the E-Sarn region, and about 70 MPs emerged today to form the Phum Jai Thai Party. The move broke the back of E-Sarn unity that saw the region sent successive PM to rule Thailand.

“The by-election shows that the people voted for 20 MPs and so that is the mandate while the forces of Thaksin we already saw from the by-election what it is. Today people want peace and that is our direction-for peace. This party and its people are important political assets of the country and so anything for the country we will do it, and that includes helping Thaksin if it is good for the country. We will focus on our sell message and it the message sells, other MPs will come to join us,” said the party head.

The head of Phum Jai Thai Pary asai his party made a “great sacrifice” in breaking away from Thaksin to join the Democrat party in forming the government and said its policy is to bring “peace to the country.”

“The Phum Jai Thai party Policy are first maintain our duty to the Nation, Religion and King; second, destroy all that hurt national security; third, scuttle all attempts to change political system from democracy with King as head; fourth, propagate populus policies; fifth, remedy all people’s pain and suffering; and sixth, take care of very part of society to live under happiness even if can not be equally well off.”

The head then attacked Thaksin’s populus policies by saying many of Thaksin’s policies does not work and will have to be fixed and that the Pum Jai Thai party will create new and better populus policies.

The party is seen as a direct competition to the Thaksin’s influenced Peur Thai Party and both are seen as the major force in fighting for political power in the E-Sarn region. That political fight is seen as splitting the unity of the E-Sarn region, as the region is rich in population and any party that can grabbed hold of it, typcally control Thai government. However, this split of E-Sarn into two main fractions, have resulted in the “evaporating away” of that E-Sarn power.

Head of the Phum Jai Thai Party is no other than Nevin, a close friend of Thaksin. At the press conference Nevin declined to say that the party is in fact a basis for him to rise to the PM status, saying that he is banned from politics. Nevin however, is highly involved in politics with Anupong, the Thai army chief, calling in Nevin to twist him into changing position into supporting the Democrat Party.
