23.29-King’s daughter words, twisted by PAD, by Tammy, this blog’s neutral analyst
In one of another sample of blatant lese majeste to those that care about the Thai Royalty, or another example of blatant misinterpretations of an author’s meaning to those that cherish freedom of speech, a PAD leader has just twisted the meaning of the Thai King’s daughter words, to mean her writings supported the PAD activities.
PAD is planning a knock-out protest march on the government and last night was the main rally to get the protesters all fired up for the battle ahead. And as normal with the PAD, the Thai Monarchy is bought up to fire the spirits of rally goers.
The Thai King’s Daughter, Phra Thep, who has been maintaining a position of being above politics, as some criticized others members of her family as taking side, told a US reporter last month that the PAD isn’t a protectorate of the Thai Monarchy and that the PAD activities was self-interest of the PAD.
However, those words of Phra Thep stung the PAD deeply. After Phra Thep words, one after another of those of the closest to the Thai King, have come out to criticized the PAD and stated positions similar to Phra Thep. The PAD, shocked, grabbed hold of the Thai Queen’s kindness and support for a killed PAD supporter, as meaning that the Thai Royalty was on its side. And the PAD went attacking those that are the closest to the Thai King as being “Fakes” and that it is the PAD, that is close to the Thai Monarchy.
Just houses ago tonight, a PDA leader read perhaps the most sacred words Phra Thep has ever written about her personal “working” relationship with the Thai King.
Those words, most Thais will remember, are about Phra Thep as a child who would follow the footstep of her father to remote villages to help the poor. Phra Thep, the daughter of one of the richest man in the world and had a more comfortable life than most of us, told her father of how hungry, tired and sore he foot were and how she wanted to rest. Phra Thep even told her dad that her foot was bleeding. The response from he dad, the Thai King, is that it is their duty to serve the people, there is no such a thing as rest, and taking it easy. But it is about the duty that is bound the Thai King and his family, guided by the right philosophy and intentions.
However, last night, as the PAD read Phra Thep words:
Instead of kindness and gentleness, as the basis of the readings, the PAD leader put in place much hatred and anger as the basic emotions-yelling the words out loudly-and kept stressing Phra Thep writings on how with the right philosophy and intentions on ones side, one must keep pushing no matter how hard and hurt or bloody one gets. The PAD leader stress this point by shouting at high pitch voice when he got to the words, the “struggle for the right philosophy and intentions.”
With those words, PAD rally goers cheered and slap their hand clapping tool in the air in happiness.
Earlier, a member of the PAD leadership went on stage and chastised the people of Bangkok for not attending the PAD rally today, as the numbers have fallen off very sharply from the anticipated 300,000 needed to topple the government in a short-time-as the PAD estimates-to not even 50,000 rally goers showing up. Pictures of the PAD rally showed only a big crowd at the occupied government house but at other key points used as gathering spots, only a few hundreds of people showed up.
Immediately, the news was communicated down to Southern Thailand, to get the Democrat Party canvasses to organize a massive rescue of the PAD movements with the sending of bus and train loads of provincial folks into Bangkok, according to reports on a Thai TV.
The reports also said that public utilities workers Unions are trying their hardest to get the unions to support the PAD movement. At maximum, estimates from the union is about 30,000 and with about current 40,000 and expected from the South of 10,000, the total number of about 70,000-80,000 is still seen as not enough to provide a knock out punch.
The number of 70,000-80,000 if unchanged, still falls short of the numbers of about 100,000 the NorPorChor, the red shirt anti PAD group received in a normal gathering last month. Today NorPhorChor held another rally at a temple ground that can accommodate much less people than 100,000 and yet about 50,000 showed up, spilling rally goers into protesting at the temple’s many surrounding roads and orchids, because they can not get in. Originally, there was a potential for the former Thai PM Thaksin, who the NorPorChor supports, to do a second phone-in. However Thaksin did not call in, and the the NorPorChior said that Thaksin didn’t want to add fuel to the fire of the PAD planned protest.
The government, sensing the desperation of the PAD and because of high ranking meeting between the Thai Army chief and the Privy Council Prem-as indicating a potential military intervention of some sort if the situation gets out of hand-have been quick to point to an alternate scenario by the PAD to make desperate acts, such as burning down the occupied Government House or using violence in its protest tomorrow-as a way to incite the military to intervene.
Such violence could embarrass the Somchai government into resigning. The government has also warned that the so called “Fifth Column” of the “Third Hand” may get involved, since some intelligent reports has it that the military is currently split into three main fractions with two leaning towards staging a coup, with one fraction highly eager to stage a coup.
Meanwhile, ABAC poll found that the PAD support among the Bangkok people had fallen significantly and that the support for the government is ebbing up. The poll prompted the government to ease off quite a bit and now the government spokesman said that tomorrow major move by the PAD will not be met with violence, but with containment, even with PAD violence.
